Rock Creek Farm & Llama Co. began with our love for unique animals. We began with a Maltese and a Shih-tzu in the house and a pair of Cochin Bantams on the back porch; and Lisa wanting a miniature donkey. Realizing that we probably should move from the Bonaire subdivision with ordinances BEFORE the donkey, we began searching for a place in the country. Soon after settling in at our new location, we began the search for a donkey.
After visiting several donkey outfits we discovered the many lovely animals out there that we wanted to have to come live with us. Like Lays potato chips, you can't have just one. We purchased our first donkeys from Lewis Mill Farm in Vienna, GA in November, 2007. They included 3 females, 'Della', 'Smuttee' and 'Justa Pinch' along with a young male, Lil Tornado. We also selected Pinch's full sister 'Just a Smidgen' from Bill Wray, Wrayland Farms along with 'Precious', 'Sundance' and 'Bojangles' in January, 2008. Later that spring we had the opportunity to purchase 'Short Assets Dance a Jigg' from Little Hoofs Farm in Cochran, GA. 'Jiggs' is a 29 inch proven herdsire with exceptional conformation, a wonderfully personable attitude AND he is siring beautiful babies at Rock Creek Farm.
It was later that summer that we added our first 'woolly' donkey, at the sale in Ohio. We selected 'MGF Over the Rainbow', a 28" beautiful brown 'woolly' with the sweetest disposition from McRoberts Game Farm, Gurley, Nebraska. Christmas, 2008 brought us a call from Carolyn Martin about a wonderful little 'woolly' jack named 'Carroussel Farms Hartman'. We purchased this little 29" spotted 'woolly' jack from Steve and Linda Wilmoth, S & L Minibrayers, Douglas, GA and will begin breeding him in 2010. We are excited to see his little ones, as he has developed into an exceptional young jack!
After the donkeys came pygmy goats. And while selecting our little goats at Golden Pond Farms in a suburb of Atlanta, (of all places to find goats) we were introduced to their adorable llamas. We had always been fascinated with llamas, and just had to have one or two on our new farm. After purchasing a young male at GPF, we began searching for a companion for "GPF Cisco".
It was while doing so that we met Jack and Tracy Pearson of Pearson Pond Farm and Llama Company in Ellijay, GA and were impressed, to say the least, with the many exceptional animals available at one location. We later realized that we were veiwing the culmination of 20+ years of selecting and breeding exquisite llamas from all over the world!
Our first selection from PPR included Cha-Cha and Shalimar, two proven bred females with exceptional conformation, and PPR Flowerbomb an exquisite young female sired by Smokey Joe and out of Shalimar! We later added Candella and Silver Priority, two more exceptional females. We then selected PPR Fusion and PPR King Cobra II to add to our collection of show and foundation breeding animals.
We currently raise miniature donkeys, llamas, pygmy goats, malti-zous and great pyrenies guard dogs at Rock Creek Farm. We also have Bocephus, a black lab standing at stud along with chickens, turkeys, guinnies, the maltese and shih-tzu, 2 malti-zu pups, Thelma and Louise and our 3 cats residing with us on the farm.
We emphasize 'Quality' in our farm animals rather than Quantity.
